STATE OF QUALITATIVE RESEARCH IN NURSING IN TURKEY

Communication, one of the basis of nursing, includes the understanding of individual's emotions, opinions and experiences. qualitative research methods may be useful for ensuring the integrity of nursing services, and also the evaluation of the development of services in nursing. therefore, communication is considered one of the constituents of qualitative research methods. the aim of the study is determine the amount and characteristics of qualitative research which has been conducted by nurses in the field in turkey. in order to access qualitative research conducted by nurses in turkey, three databases were scanned: ti.irk medline, the national thesis center of the council of higher education, and pubmed, using the following keywords: hem ire, hem irelik, baktm, nitel, nitel ve nice/ aralttrma for turkish, and ''turkey, nurse, nursing, care, qualitative, qualitative and quantitative research for english...a total of 94 studies were accessed, including 30 theses and 64 articles within the criteria. this sample shows that qualitative research methods have been used in the nursing field since 2002. it was seen that researchers generally took a phenomenological approach, and targeted international publications.
