   COMPARISON OF PERSONAL VALUES OF NURSING STUDENTS TRAINED BY CLASSICAL AND INTEGRATED TEACHING MODELS

چکیده    Objective:this study was planned with the aim of comparing personal values of nursing students who were trained by classical and integrated teaching models at a school of nursing. methods: the study is a descriptive and comparative type. the study population consisted of 1357 nursing students who studied at a school of nursing in 2005 and 2009 years. the sample of the research consisted of392 students being trained by classical education model in 2005 and 382 students who being trained by integrated education model in 2009 with a total of 774 (participation rate 57.0 %). approval of the nursing schools ethics committee for scientific research, and verbal informed consent of students were obtained. the data were collected via questionnaire form. in the first part of this form included 17 questions related to social demographic characteristics, reasons for choosing nursing as a profession and satisfaction of students. in the second part, it was used a form of values survey, including 18 terminal values and 18 instrumental values developed by rokeach in 1973. in this form, students are asked to rate and write the most important percieved value as a 18 in the two lists of values separately. the data were analyzed using spss 12.0 statistical program. number, percentage and chi-square statistical test were used in analyses the data. results and conclusion: it was determined that students being trained by two teaching models had perceived the five most terminal and instrumental values similarly (p>0.05). the five most important terminal values were determined as; self respect, family security, happiness, mature love, inner harmony. the five most important terminal values were determined as; honest, locigal, obedient, independent and helpful. statistical differences were found between other perceptions such as; a world of beauty, a exciting life and social recognition as terminal values (p<0.05). it was found that the both two groups were more similar to nursing professional values, the class year progressed. it is suggested that professional philosophy and professional values should be included in nursing curriculum and value-based education should be integrated into all courses.
