   URINARY TRACT INFECTION AND ASSOCIATED FACTORS IN A PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

چکیده    Objective: this study was implemented with the aim to investigate prevelance of urinary tract infection (uti) and affected factors in students studying at a primary school. methods: the population of this cross-sectional and descriptive research was consist of 103 students studying at a primary school and the sample of the study consisted of 98 students who had not applied to physician due to urinary tract infection currently and have had not any health problem. the data were collected with a questionnaire which consisted from questions related to socio-demographic features, hygienic habits and signs and symptoms of uti of students. urine culture was made by taking mid-stream urine samples in the students. chi-square test fisher exact test was used in analysis of the data. in order to conduct the study a written permission from the ethic committee and related institution and from the parents of the students and a verbal permission was taken from students who participated in the study. results: in the most (65.3 %) of the students’ urine culture were positive, in 5.1% of them were developed urinary tract infection. in the 40% of the students who are developed uti, e. coli and 60% of them staphylococcus aureus was found to be the causative microorganism of uti. gender and had been previously uti was found to be effected the uti prevelance. the incidence of uti was found to be more higher in female students and in students who had previously uti. conclusion: uti was found to be seen in an important part of healthy students of primary school.
