چکیده    In this study, the effects of slag replacement on abrasion resistance, flexural and compressive strengths of wet and dry cured mortars having different water/binder ratios were investigated. in the research carried out, cem i 42.5 r normal portland cement was used. the slag was obtained from iskenderun steel plant (isdemir) and ground to have a blaine specific surface area about 4250 cm2/g. in the mortar mixes, sand/cement ratio was 2.75 and water/binder ratios were 0.30, 0.40 and 0.50. in mortar mixtures, cement was replaced with 0, 20, 40, 60 and 80% slag by weight. according to flow table tests performed, hyper plasticizer chemical admixture in different proportions was used in mortar mixes to facilitate the workability. prismatic mortar samples with 40x40x160 mm dimensions were produced from the mixtures and a half of samples were stored in a room having 65% rh and 22±2ºc while the other half of samples were stored in water bath which had same temperature until test days. after 7, 28, 90 and 180 days of curing, the compressive strengths, flexural strengths and los angeles abrasion resistances of the samples were measured. the results obtained from this research showed that curing conditions on the mortars containing slag had an important effect. furthermore the abrasion resistances and strengths of dry cured mortar samples were less than those of wet cured mortar samples. the relations between strength and abrasion resistance results showed that los angeles abrasion machine could be used for wear tests of mortar samples.
