چکیده    This study includes the determination of the liquefaction potential developed for the residentail area covered by alluvial deposits using spt (standard penetration test) data under the effect of the probable earthquake effect in kaytazdere (izmit) district. for this reason, two data were evaluated. north anatolian fault zone was a length of 105 km in length and approximately passes through in a distance of 30 km in the south of study area (kaytazdere district). it was predicated to affect the region and create the biggest peak horizontal accelaration due to earthquake. in a probable earthquake effect, it was calculated an earthquake of moment magnitude as mw=6.9, considering that north anatolian fault zone may be cracked 1/3 of the total length. using attenuation relationships developed for turkey a peak ground acceleration of 0.48g was calculated for the study site. according to the these results, the liquefaction analysis was performed using the spt data and two locations were determined as liquefiable.
