Performance prediction of large diameter circular saws (s/t) has been studied by many researchers. previous studies were generally based on investigating the relationship between physical and mechanical properties of natural stone and sawability performance of s/t. sawability performance measurements of s/t for muğla milas white marble, afyon sugar marble, antalya limestone, milas light white marble and marmara dark grey marble are performed in natural stone factories. uniaxial compressive strength (ucs), brazilian tensile strength (bts), cerchar abrasivity index (cai), shore scleroscope hardness, schmidt hammer hardness and density tests were carried out on block samples according to isrm and astm standards. simple and multiple regression analysis were conducted and a new model is suggested in order to predict the performance of s/t. simple regression analysis is performed to determine the dominant properties on s/t performance. a new statistical model is suggested as a result of multiple regression analysis by using the ucs and cai values of natural stones. the reliability of suggested model is tested against performance of large diameter circular saws obtained from literature. verifications and comparisons showed that the model suggested in this study may be a very useful and reliable tool for prediction of areal slab production rates for s/t.
