At the junction of important geographical and geopolitical roads, kosovo has been inhabited by various tribes from different religions since the antiquity. one of these are the muslim turks.as it is known, kosovo region had been within the borders of ottoman empire since 1389 and for a long period of time local people and muslim turks lived together. this togetherness inevitably led to multisided interactions. today we can still observe this permanent picture there.when inter-social relationships and interactions are taken into account, religion will undoubtedly bear great significance. the ritual practices of the local peoples have had some profound impacts over the muslim society, or vice versa. in this paper, we will be focusing on the conversion to islam, which is regarded as the most important turning point in the interaction of the religions, between the short period of 1839 and 1910 and related issues. our article, based on the unstudied documents taken from the prime ministry ottoman archive, will shed light upon the history of kosovo and conversions in that period.
