مواجهۀ ایرانیان با فناوری‌های نوین در آمریکا و نتایج آن براساس اسناد منتشر نشده و مطبوعات عصر قاجاریه (مطالعۀ موردی تلگراف و تلفن)

ایرانیان در دورۀ قاجاریه با مدنیت و فرهنگ غرب آشنا شدند. در این دوره آمریکا توانسته بود به پیشرفت‌های عظیمی به‌ویژه در عرصه فناوری ارتباطات دست پیدا کند و موجب حیرت جهانیان به‌ویژه ایرانیان گردد. به همین دلیل متفکران ایرانی به واکاوی اختراعات آمریکایی‌ها در عرصۀ فناوری‌هایی همچون تلگراف و تلفن و چگونگی توسعه آن‌ها برآمدند. افزایش اطلاعات و آگاهی از دستاوردهای متحیرکنندۀ آمریکاییان و مقایسۀ ناخودآگاه میان اوضاع ایران و این کشور پرسش‌های متعددی را در بارۀ علل و اسباب فاصلۀ میان این دو کشور در فناوری به وجود آورد. در پژوهش حاضر سعی شده است که با رویکردی تاریخی و با تکیه بر مطبوعات و اسناد منتشر نشده، چگونگی مواجهۀ ترقی‌خواهان با فناوری‌های نوین آمریکا همچون تلگراف و تلفن بررسی گردد و سپس به این پرسش پاسخ داده شود که آیا آگاهی ایرانیان از دستاوردهای ارتباطی آمریکا نتایجی را به دنبال داشت یا خیر؟ براساس یافته‌های تحقیق این فرضیه مطرح شد که روشنفکران به‌ویژه از دورۀ ناصری بیشترین اطلاعات را در خصوص تغییر و تحولات آمریکا در عرصۀ ارتباطات بازتاب داده‌اند و ایدۀ بهره‌مندی از این پیشرفت‌ها را پیشنهاد کردند. به دنبال این گزارش‌ها نمایندگان سیاسی ایران در واشنگتن و مقامات دولتی از یک طرف در تکاپو برای حضور در کنفرانس‌های آمریکایی‌ها در عرصۀ تکنولوژی و استخدام مستشار تلگراف از این کشور برآمدند و از طرف دیگر به منظور فراگیری دستاوردهای آمریکا در عرصۀ تلگراف و تلفن از طریق الگوبرداری، انعقاد قرارداد و اعزام محصلین به این کشور گام‌های مهمی برداشتند.

iranians’ exposure to new technologies in the united states and their results based on press and unpublished documents (case study of telegraph and telephone)

iranians became acquainted with western american civilization and culture during the qajar period. during this period, the united states was able to make great strides, especially in the field of communication technology, and astonished the world, especially iranians. in this regard, iranian thinkers began to analyze american inventions in the field of technologies such as telegraph and telephone and how they were developed. the increase in information and awareness of the astonishing achievements of the americans and the subconscious comparison between the situation in iran and this country raised many questions about the causes of the huge rift between the two countries. in this article with a historical approach and relying on the press and unpublished documents tries to examine how progressives are exposed to new american technologies such as telegraph and telephone, and to answer the question of whether iranians awareness of us communications achievements had any consequences or not? the findings of the study hypothesize that intellectuals, especially from the nasseri period, have reflected the most knowledge about american changes in the field of communication and suggested the idea of ​​benefiting from these advances. following these reports, iranian political representatives in washington and government officials, on the one hand, sought to attend american technology conferences and employing telegraph advisers from the country and on the other hand, they took important steps to learn about the achievements of the united states in the field of telegraph and telephone through modeling, concluding contracts, and sending students to this country
