In this paper we examine industrial pay inequality in turkey using theil’s t statistic calculated from turkstat’s (turkish statistical in stitute) employment and wage data for the 1992-2010 period. this paper analyzes the evolution of the wage inequality between regions (12 and 26 sub-regions), sectors, east-west and developed-underdeveloped divisions using the between-group component of the theil t statistic. results indicate that pay inequality between sectors increases during crisis and recession periods (1994, 2001 and 2008). although regional wage inequality tends to decrease beginning in the mid-1990s, inequality between east and west does not display any sign of improvement.
