چکیده    Danial libeskind believes that there is a wide gap between 'what is taught and how and what is built and why'. broadbent also believes that architectural education has always been in tension with architectural practice. while-bill grubich thinks that academia lives in an ivory tower separate from the rest of the world with no direct connection with the community. these are not the only views that confirm the segregation between academia and professional realm in architecture. there is a global belief between professionals that this gap is more extensive and getting wider. the intent of this paper is not to provide a proposal on how to narrow this gap, limit its expansion or even offer definitive solutions, but to highlight the problem that faces the architectural educational process in egypt, define the flaws, draw attention on the poor outcome of this process and pave the road for further discussion.
