A survey to identify the veterinarian's,veterinary faculty student's and law enforcement officer's attitudes to animal rights in turkey [Türkiye'de veteriner hekimlerin,veteriner fakültesi ögrencilerinin ve kanun uygulayicilarin hayvan haklarina yönelik tutumlari üzerine bir arastirma]

In this study,attitudes about animal rights in turkey have been investigated through veterinarians,veterinary faculty students and other occupational groups within the justice system (judge,prosecutor,lawyer,police and municipal police). for this aim,an online survey was developed for collecting data and applied to judge,prosecutor,lawyer,police,municipal police,veterinarians and veterinary faculty students in 19 different cities hawing (ankara,istanbul,bursa,aydin,balikesir,samsun,konya,kayseri,afyonkarahisar,burdur,kirikkale,hatay,erzurum,sivas,diyarbakir,van,elazig,sanliurfa,kars) veterinary faculties. following the conduction of the online survey,totally 153 return from 13 cities (istanbul,bursa,ankara,kirikkale,aydin,burdur,afyon,samsun,hatay,erzurum,elazig,kars and van) achieved. data obtained subsequent to the conduct of the on-line survey were analysed using spss 17.00 statistical program. the attitudes of participants towards animal rights are partially positive (mean 3,71±0.18). according to the data obtained in this study; it can be said that gender,living place,occupation,education level,being an animal owner affected the level of attitudes significantly (p?0.05). no statistical significance was found on the attitude analysis related to income and age variables (p>0.05).
