Letter to editor: the american diabetes association has opened a dysglycemic category termed “prediabetes”. this category includes subjects with fasting blood sugar levels of between 100 and 125 mg/dl or glycated hemoglobin a1c levels of between 5.7% and 6.4% or 2-hour post-glucose loads (75 g) of between 140 and 199 mg/dl.
