Introduction: foot disorders such as ulceration, infectionand gangrene are the most common, complex and costlysequelae of diabetes mellitus.[1-3] even for the most superficialwounds, treatment is often difficult with poor healingresponses and high rates of complications. the purpose ofthis study is to compare the rate of ulcer healing with thenegative pressure dressing technique to conventional moistdressings in the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers. materialsand methods: the study was conducted on 30 patients, which were divided into two groups. one group receivednegative pressure dressing while other group receivedconventional saline moistened gauze dressing. results werecompared for rate of wound healing. results: there was astatistically significant difference in the rate of appearance ofgranulation tissue between the two groups; with granulationtissue appearing earlier in the study group. the study grouppromised a better outcome (80% complete responders) ascompared to the control group (60% complete responders).conclusions: negative pressure wound therapy has adefinitive role in healing of diabetic foot ulcers.
