با توجه به تعریف مجدد و نوین بحران‌های ناگهانی (abrupt crisis) و بحران‌های تدریجی (cumulative crisis) باید نگرش مدیریت بحران هم به‌روزرسانی شود. رشد سریع فناوری‌ها و پیشرفت‌های قابل توجه در کلیه ابعاد زندگی بشر موید این نکته مهم و واقعیت کلیدی است که آینده در اکثر موارد دیگر شبیه گذشته نیست. در سطح کلان برای فهم بهتر این شرایط بررسی و تحلیل روندهای حاکم از اهمیت فزاینده‌ای برخوردار است. از جمله حوزه‌های مهم که می‌بایست همیشه اشراف کامل و تحلیلی به تغییرات روندها و تاثیرات آن بر ماموریت خود داشته باشد، وزارت دفاع و پشتیبانی نیروهای مسلح جمهوری اسلامی ایران است. مسئولیت خطیر پشتیبانی از نیروهای مسلح کشور بر اساس قانون اساسی جمهوری اسلامی ایران بر عهده این وزارت‌خانه است، از این‌رو می‌بایست به‌صورت منظم و موثر اشراف کاملی از محیط آینده و تصویرسازی مطلوب برای آینده حوزه ماموریتی در دستور کار قرار داشته باشد. در این راستا با بهره‌گیری از چند منبع مناسب و از طریق پرسش‌نامه از خبرگان ودجا سوال شد که از بین روندهای کلیدی موجود کدامیک می‌توانند بیشترین تاثیر را بر ماموریت ودجا داشته باشند. مقاله با تحلیل نتایج به‌دست‌آمده ضمن ارائه تصویری از محیط امنیتی جهان در آینده و توضیحاتی در ارتباط با شرایط کشورهای در حال توسعه و درگیری‌های درون‌کشوری روندهای موثر بر ماموریت ودجا در افق 1410 را تشریح می‌کند.
