Communication conflict from “bercak” to menongkah lumrah by azmah nordin [Konflik komunikasi dari “bercak” ke menongkah lumrah karya azmah nordin]

Azmah nordin portrayed various disciplines in her writings including medicine,laws,entrepreneurship,and hotel industry which focused in human conflicts. obviously it involved women characters and they always became the victors. menongkah lumrah (dbp,1996) underlined communication conflict that occurred in panglima burhan computer (pbc),a computer company. menongkah lumrah had won the first place in hadiah penulisan novel dewasa organized by dbp sabah (1992),hadiah sastera perdana malaysia 1996/97 and hadiah sastera sabah 1997. in all her previous novels,azmah nordin retained a slogan,“women in focus,women in victory.” this article aimed at the consistency of the slogan in the selected novel. the seriousness in portraying “women in focus,women in victory” was through the intertextual process as the novel extended her previous short story,“bercak” (dewan sastera,september 1991). azmah nordin explored thoroughly the previous communication conflict in her novel. furthermore azmah nordin developing narrative devices that engaged to the information technology for instance the virus and anti-virus which reflected in the conflict and characters involved. the emotions of characters were also seemed related to certain computer devices,metaphorically. consequently,“women in focus,women in victory” exhibited the intentness of the author in communication conflicts and the dialogues discussed about gender inequality. © 2015,jurnal komunikasi malaysian journal of communication. all rights reserved.
