Usage analysis of visual digital (DVFX) special effects on short films and genre [Analisis penggunaan kesan khas visual digital (DVFX) terhadap genre dan naratologi filem pendek]

Technology advancement and revolution in film arena has brought tremendous change in film making practise. the digital technology alters film industry via production,marketing as well as their audience landscape. the use of digital visual effects (dvfx) for example,indirectly impacts film narative and aesthetic values,which then influences how audience understand film genre. as mcclean (2007) asserts,genre classification is subjective to different perspectives of industry players,producers,film scholars,as well as the viewers. this study analyses the use of dvfx in short films that were shortlisted in the final competition of malaysia student film festival. the study also evaluates the pattern and impact of dvfx use on genre and narratology of the produced films. © 2015,jurnal komunikasi malaysian journal of communication. all right reserved.
