Nomenclature variant of sarawak melanau colonial era to 20th century: 100 years of genetics critical analysis of interaction linguistics [Nomenclature varian melanau sarawak dari era kolonial ke abad 20: Analisis kritis 100 tahun interaksi kebahasaan genetik]

The studies of melanau variant (vm) begun in the colonial era,namelay at the early of 19th century untill 20th century. this paper critically analyzed vm from the point of comparative linguistics. indeed,the vm research were pioneered by missioneries at first,and then continued by anthropologists. in the early of 19th century and 20th century,the study of vm focused more on the collection of the different forms of melanau language vocabulary and location of the tribe. in the 20th century,the studies of vm at this stage,the study of fossils linguistics pressing on interaction aspect of language derived from genetics aspects to be emphasized. in the years of 1890-1970,the studies of vm showed the increased development. the efforts that had been undertaken by the researchers,is to be commended,because through this study,the world community will better identify and understand the cultural values of the society. © 2015,jurnal komunikasi malaysian journal of communication. all rights reserved.
