Media and audience: News reporting on conflict issues in Malaysia and Indonesia [Media dan khalayak: Pemberitaan isu konflik Malaysia dan Indonesia]

This research aims to look at the level of media dependency of the audience from south sulawesi and their perception on conflict issues that has occurred sporadically over the years between malaysia and indonesia as reported by harian fajar and tribun timur on indonesian workers in malaysia. responsible and independent media play an important role to inform the audience on current issues and policies lined by governments that has implications on the lives of its people. media are often said to be the primary source of information that the audience rely heavily on. they are active users of media. this research will employ media dependency theory forwarded by ball-rokeach and defleur (1976) that says media influence becomes higher when audiences are fully dependent on them. © 2015,jurnal komunikasi malaysian journal of communication. all rights reserved.
