The aims of this research are to develop and evaluate an ipbl portal (islamic problem based-learning) for teaching and learning purposes in islamic education,which is conducted at the polytechnic in brunei darussalam. this portal development based on addie design model which divides the development activities to five phases: analysis,design,development,implement and evaluate. this quantitative study was conduct using questionnaires to evaluate the portal usability in terms of interface design,content organization,multimedia and the portal’s ease of use. a total of 41 students involved to evaluate the portal’s usability. the data were analyzed using spss software to find frequency,percentage and mean value. the feedback and comments from the informant help researcher to enhance the portal development. furthermore,the usability findings showed all the four aspects successfully applied in the portal,based on the average of mean score in a very high level (mean > 4.23). instead,the user interface design showed with the lowest scores. on the other hand,this aspect has no different score gap because it succeed in the acceptable range (mean > 4.14). nonetheless,all the four aspects are successfully implemented in the portal and achieved the standard of teaching resources. at the end of the study,researcher stressed on some of crucial elements needed to highlight to make sure the process of the portal development able to meet his goals. © 2016,universiti kebangsaan malaysia press. all rights reserved.
