Implementation of Islamic work ethics: Public perception of prime and alternative Islamic media journalism [Perlaksanaan etika kerja Islam: Persepsi masyarakat terhadap kewartawanan Islam media arus perdana dan alternatif]

In the atmosphere of the practice of journalism today,the various allegations and complaints about the reputation of journalists often become the topic of the question. sometimes journalists are often considered like a doll into a game of some irresponsible. this happened because of greed for profit and pleasure for one side regardless of the real work ethic. therefore,this study aimed to identify the understanding of the implementation of islamic work ethics and its implementation on job satisfaction among muslim journalists and alternative media mainstream. the research methodology using a survey method using a questionnaire in which samples are taken from 221 respondents from communities around the state. the findings based on the public perception of the level of understanding of islamic work ethics among journalists in the mainstream media and the alternative does not indicate a difference in which respondents expressed a moderate level. but from the point of satisfaction level of respondents to the mainstream media journalists and alternative shows respondents expressed high level of satisfaction with the work ethics among journalists of the alternative media than the mainstream media of respondents said the level of work ethics among journalists is still at a moderate level. in summary it can be concluded that the higher authorities of the mainstream and alternative media should be aware of this situation in which views on the findings showed that the level of understanding on the implementation of islamic work ethics among journalists of mainstream and alternative media are at a moderate level. similarly,respondents' level of satisfaction of mainstream media reporters,especially shows a moderate level. if left unchecked it will cause damage to the premises as work practices is very important in islam to attract customers and improve the reliability of the information presented. © 2016,universiti kebangsaan malaysia press. all rights reserved.
