   Self disclosure,motivation and satisfaction using Facebook in establishing friendship [Pendedahan diri,motivasi dan kepuasan penggunaan Facebook dalam menjalin persahabatan]

چکیده    The development of social media in people's lives has presented a new civilization,especially in the process of communication and information. globalization,as a result of development in communication technology,information technology and the internet,has certainly made an impact on social lives and made a phenomenon of human life. one growing phenomenon is,that individuals are starting to use social media as a place to make friends. this study was conducted with the aim to provide the latest information on how far the use of facebook can lead youth to make friends through facebook. this study also examined self-disclosure on facebook by youth and to what extent self-disclosure can lead youth to make friends through facebook. this study also tries to determine the relationship between the level of consumption,self-disclosure,motivation and satisfaction in the use of facebook for making friends. the theoretical framework was built on two theories,the social penetration theory and uses and gratification theory. some 278 young people aged between 18-25 at the syiah kuala university (unsyiah) of banda aceh,indonesia were selected to be respondents by using purposive sampling technique. data were analyzed using spss 22.0 software to test correlation. the correlation results showed that all hypothesis were accepted. the data explained that the level of consumption,self-disclosure,motivation and satisfaction are related to tendency of youth in making friends through facebook. it can be concluded that the high level of facebook use is the main variable affecting youth in establishing friendship through facebook. the study also has contributed in rejuvenating the assumptions that have been adapted to the latest phenomena in social media. hence,this study has many implications for both theory and practice of communication. © 2017,universiti kebangsaan malaysia press. all rights reserved.
