Emotional intelligence,non-verbal communication and workers’ personal skill in the context of organizational communication [Kecerdasan emosi,komunikasi non-verbal dan keterampilan peribadi para pekerja dalam konteks komunikasi keorganisasian]

Emotional intelligence and non-verbal communication is a very important aspect on peoples’ relationship. without these elements the organization can be defective and not resilient. this study was conducted to analyze the level of emotional intelligence,the importance of non-verbal communication skills as well as staff personel skill at inland revenue board,kuching branch. the study also sought to identify the differences in emotional intelligence by gender and level of position,and analyzes the impact of emotional intelligence on the personal skills of respondents. the data were obtained through a survey method and were analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistics. the results showed that the level of emotional intelligence of employees of the inland revenue board kuching branch is at high levels. staff awareness of non-verbal communication were also at the high level. similarly,the personal skills specified by them were also at a high level. the t test indicated that the implementers’ group have higher emotional intelligence than the management and professional groups. unfortunately emotional intelligence by gender differences was not significant. based on the regression analysis,it was found that the dimensions of emotional intelligence,particularly self-awareness,self-motivation and social skills contribute to personal skills as much as 50 percent variance. © 2017,universiti kebangsaan malaysia press. all rights reserved.
