Development Strategy of Health Tourism in Iran

Background: iran has considerable potentials for growth of health tourism; however, they have not been properly realized toward national development. objective: this paper is an attempt to prioritize development strategies of health tourism in iran that it has been done on the hospitals of tehran. materials and methods: this study is descriptive-analytical. it was carried out in 2012 and sample size was determined through snowball non-probability sampling. a questionnaire was administered to 29 participants and the development strategies were formulated by swot. results: findings of the research showed that, weakness points of health tourism industry override strength points. still, opportunities of development are more than threats. conclusion: one may conclude that iran’s health tourism is weakness opportunity (wo) situation and needs to strategies especially designed for such situation. therefore, improve strategies (wo) have been located in priority for development of health tourism in iran.
