PREFACE

The history of cairo university has been one of growth and distinction. it was established in 1908, with public and royal donations to become a beacon for liberal thought and lay the ground for a comprehensive academic revival in all fields of knowledge. in 1940, a royal decree was issued to rename the national university to king fouad university, and in 1953, one year after july revolution, the cabinet issued a decree to rename it ‘‘cairo university’’. since then constant growth in its size, facilities, number of faculties, students, and staff has happened. now the campus includes 25 faculties and institutes with about 11,000 staff members serving around 250,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students.
