وجوه روش‌شناختیِ تاریخ‌نویسیِ اندیشۀ سیاسی جواد طباطبایی

مسئلۀ کانونی جواد طباطبایی در همۀ آثارش «ایران به عنوان یک مسئله/مشکل فلسفی» است و این مسئله او را به زوایای گوناگون تاریخ، تاریخ اندیشه و تاریخ اندیشه سیاسی در ایران می‌کشاند. وی مجموعه‌ای از رویکرد و روش‌هایی که تاکنون به این منظور به کار گرفته شده‌اند را نامناسب دانسته و ردّیه‌های صریحی بر آن‌ها می‌نویسد از جمله رویکردهای تاریخ‌گرایانه، ایدئولوژیک، جامعه‌شناختی، تجددستیز، اهل تتبعات ادبی، روشنفکران دینی، مستشرقان، ایران‌شناشان اروپایی، تاریخ‌نویسیِ دانشگاهی و روش‌هایی مانند کشف‌المحجوب. حال پرسش این است طباطبایی برای بررسی تاریخ و تاریخ اندیشۀ سیاسی در ایران از چه رویکرد و روشی بهره گرفته است؟طباطبایی رویکرد خود را «فلسفی»، شیوۀ نوشتن خود را «استراتژیک» و جای-گاهی که از چشم‌انداز آن به تاریخ اندیشه سیاسی می‌نگرد را «اندیشۀ تجدد» می‌داند. به صورت خاص، روش عمده و اصلی طباطبایی، «روش تحول تاریخی مفاهیم» است؛ بهره‌گیری از دستگاه مفاهیم تجدد با قیدِ اجتهاد در آن مفاهیم، مهم‌ترین مدعای طباطبایی در بهره‌گیری از چنان روشی است. البته طباطبایی در همۀ آثارش، الزاماً از روش واحدی بهره نمی‌گیرد و خود را نیز به همۀ ابعاد و قیود یک روش مقید نمی‌سازد، هرچند همۀ آثار او از منطق کلی یا رویکردی واحد پیروی می‌کنند.

in all of his publications, javad tabatabai’s core theme is iran as a philosophical issue/problem, this theme attracts him to many aspects of iranian history, thought history, and political thought history. he considers a set of approaches and methods used for this purpose inappropriate and writes explicit refutations of them; methods, including historiographical, ideological, sociological, anti-modernist, literary, religious, orientalism, european iranology, western academic iranian studies, and spiritual method of unveiling the veiled. now, what method and strategy did tabatabai utilize to research iran’s history and political thought?tabatabai describes his approach as philosophical, his writing style as strategic, and his perspective on the history of political thought as modernist thought at times. tabatabai’s primary approach is the method of the historical evolution of conceptions tabatabai’s most essential claim in utilizing such a method is to use the system of modernity’s notions with the condition of ijtihad in those concepts. tabatabai does not use a single method in his works, nor does he limit himself to dimensions and constraints of a single method, even though all of his works follow a general logic or a single approach
