بررسی و نقد کتاب زبان زنده؛ درآمدی بر انسان‌شناسی زبان‌شناختی

انسان‌شناسی زبان‌شناختی به‌عنوان یکی از زیرشاخه‌های مهم انسان‌شناسی، به‌دنبال بررسی این مهم است که چگونه زبان، به‌عنوان امری اجتماعی، در حیات یک جامعه نقش فعالانه‌ای را ایفا می‌کند و جنبه‌های مختلفی از مناسبات اجتماعی یک جامعه را رمزگذاری می‌کند. این شاخه از علم، که ماهیتی میان‌رشته‌ای دارد، تلاش می‌کند تا درعوض بررسی پدیده‌های زبانی در خلا، آن‌ها را باتوجه‌به بافت اجتماعی موردمطالعه قرار دهد و از این ره‌گذر، به رمزگشایی مولفه‌های اجتماعی پنهان در پس به‌کارگیری سطوح مختلف زبان‌شناختی، از آواشناسی و واژه‌شناسی تا نحو و معناشناسی، دست یابد. این مقاله با بررسی انتقادی کتاب زبان زنده؛ درآمدی بر انسان‌شناسی زبان‌شناختی، نوشتۀ لورا ام. اهرن، قصد دارد تا نشان دهد که چگونه می‌توان ساحات اجتماعی نهان در زبان، مانند فرهنگ، اندیشه، جامعه‌پذیری، جنسیت، نژاد، قومیت، و قدرت را باتوجه‌به کاربردهای زبانی در بافت‌های مختلف موردمطالعه قرار داد و بدین ‌وسیله، زبان را به‌مثابۀ نقشۀ راهی در نظر گرفت که از طریق آن، جامعۀ موردبررسی را فهم کرد.

a critical review on the book living language: an introduction to linguistic anthropology

linguistic anthropology, as one of the most important subfields of anthropology, seeks to examine how language, as a social entity, plays an active role in the life of a society and encodes various aspects of social relations in a society. this branch of science, which is interdisciplinary in essence, tries to study the linguistic phenomena in a social context instead of in a vacuum, and thus decipher the hidden social components behind the use of different linguistic levels, from phonology and lexicography to syntax and semantics. the present article critically examines “living language: an introduction to the anthropological linguistics” written by laura m. ahearn aims to show how the hidden social spheres of language, such as culture, thought, socialization, gender, race, ethnicity, power, etc. can be studied in terms of linguistic use in different contexts. by considering language as a map, we can find a way to understand the society in question.
