نقدی بر کتاب سه تقریر رقیب دربارۀ مدرنیته: خروج، اعتراض، وفاداری

تاکنون بسیاری مدرنیته را به‌مثابۀ کلیتی یک‌پارچه در نظر گرفته‌اند که در زمان و مکانی خاص متولد شده و بالیده است. در این دیدگاه، مدرنیته به‌مثابۀ امری زمان‌مند و مکان‌مند پنداشته می‌شود که با دیگر فرهنگ‌ها و اقلیم‌ها ناسازگار و بیگانه است، اما اگر مدرنیته را «متنی فرهنگی» در نظر بگیریم که بسترساز سوژگی انسانی است، می‌توانیم نشانگان آن را در تمامی جمعیت‌های انسانی به نسبت‌های مختلف بیابیم. کتاب سه تقریر رقیب دربارۀ مدرنیته: خروج، اعتراض، وفاداری می‌کوشد تا با نشان‌دادن ناسازواری‌های نظری در درک امر مدرن بر ماهیت منشوری و چندگانۀ آن تاکید ورزد و امکان‌های مختلف در مواجهه با آن را بررسی کند. از این نظر، دشوارۀ کانونی کتاب بررسی امکانات نظری‌ای است که در انگارۀ مدرن نهفته‌اند. بدنۀ اصلی اثر به نظرهای شش اندیشمند غربی دربارۀ مدرنیته می‌پردازد. هم‌چنین در آخرین قسمت کتاب، نظرهای اندیشمندان ایرانی دربارۀ مدرنیته به بحث گذارده می‌شود و آرای آن‌ها از سه منظر وفاداری به مدرنیته، اعتراض به آن، و خروج از آن بررسی می‌شود. درمجموع می‌توان این اثر را تلاشی ارزنده برای ارائۀ درکی بهتر از مفهوم مدرنیته دانست؛ امری که به‌خودی خود می‌تواند جامعۀ ایرانی را در رویارویی آگاهانه‌تر با مدرنیته یاری بخشد. مقالۀ حاضر می‌کوشد تا به دو روش صورت‌گرایانه (فرمالیستی) و محتوایی کتاب یادشده را موردنقد و ارزیابی قرار دهد.

A Critique on the Book Three Rival Versions of Modernity: Exit, Voice, Loyalty

By now many have considered modernity as an integrated totality that was born and flourished in a given time and in a given location. From this point of view, modernity is incompatible and alien to other territories and cultures, but if we consider modernity as a “cultural text” creating a suitable context for human subjectivity, then we would know it as an omnipresent phenomenon in all the human aggregations. The book Three Rival Versions of Modernity: Exit, Voice, and Loyalty focuses on incompatibilities in understanding modern affairs. Hence it shows the different capabilities inside modernity. Therefore, the central problem of the book has to do with the way of approaching modernity. Though the main part of the book is dedicated to the analysis of six Western thinker’s theories, the last part focuses on Iranian thinkers and analyses their attitudes toward modernity from three different standpoints: exit, voice, and loyalty. Finally, the book could be considered as a precious effort in understanding modernity, which per se could lead Iranian society to adopt a more conscious approach in case of modernity.
