سیر اختران در هنر اسلامی نقدی بر کتاب در تعقیب ستارگان: نقش صورت‌های فلکی بر روی آثار دورۀ اسلامی

این متن در تلاش است تا کتاب در تعقیب ستارگان را موردنقد و ارزیابی قرار دهد و، ضمن بیان ارزش‌ها و کاستی‌هایش، آن را به علاقه‌مندان حوزۀ هنر اسلامی معرفی کند. اثر کنونی، که کتابچه‌ای دربارۀ بازتاب صورت‌های فلکی در آثار هنر اسلامی است، عنوان ارزش‌مند و قابل‌تاملی را داراست که موضوع بسیار مهمی در مطالعات هنر اسلامی به‌شمار می‌رود. موضوعی که در سده‌های میانی اسلام دغدغۀ هنرمندان بود و حجم عظیمی از نقوش هنری را به‌خود اختصاص داد. در این کتاب بر علم احکام نجوم یا همان طالع‌بینی تاکید شده و درجهت این جریان به‌اصطلاح علمی به بررسی و تحلیل نقوش بیست شیء هنری نگه‌داری‌شده در موزۀ متروپولیتن نیویورک پرداخته ‌شده است. در این نوشته، به‌منظور ارزش‌گذاری، تایید، و اصلاح دیدگاه‌های نویسنده به نوشته‌های دیگر محققان اشاره‌ شده و درجهت تکمیل نظرها از آن‌ها استفاده ‌شده است. کتاب، به‌زعم وجود کاستی‌ها و نواقص محتوایی، از موضوع تازه و جالبی برخوردار است و قطعاً برای پژوهش‌گران حوزۀ هنر اسلامی مفید و مطلوب خواهد بود.

The Journey of Stars in Islamic Art A Critique on the Book Following the Stars: Images of the Zodiac in Islamic Art

This text tries to criticize and analyze the book entitled “in following stars” and introduce it to individuals who are interested in the Islamic art field while it indicates the values and deficiencies of the book. The current work which is a booklet about the reflection of constellations in Islamic artworks has a valuable and significant title that is a very important subject in the studies of Islamic art. A subject that became artists’ concerns in the middle centuries of Islam and had allocated a huge mass of artistic motifs to itself. This book emphasizes the science of astronomy or astrology and in line with this socalled scientific process, has considered and analyzed motifs of twenty artistic objects that are kept in the Metropolitan Museum of New York. In this paper, to evaluate, approve, and correct the author’s viewpoints, other researchers’ writings have been mentioned and used to supplement another point of view. Although the book has concept deficiencies and shortcomings, it has a novel and interesting subject and will be useful and desirable for researchers in the field of Islamic art.
