نگاهی به زمان و حکایت و مختصری دربارۀ اصطلاح روایت/ حکایت (récit/ narrative)

کتاب سه جلدی زمان و حکایت (1983-1985) پل ریکور (1913-2005) را مهشید نونهالی از فرانسه به فارسی برگردانده که در سال 1397 به‌صورت کامل توسط نشر نی روانۀ بازار شده است. کتاب ریکور اثری دشوار به‌شمار می‌‌رود که فهم آن نیازمند آشنایی نسبتاً کاملی با رشته‌‌ها و شاخه‌‌های گوناگون علوم انسانی مانند فلسفه، تاریخ، ادبیات، روایت‌‌شناسی، و... ‌‌است. به همین دلیل، در این‌جا کم‌تر به مجلد سوم و بیش‌تر به مجلد دوم پرداخته می‌‌شود. دربارۀ ترجمه می‌‌توان ادعا کرد امانت و دقت رعایت شده است، اما کاستی‌های فراوانی به‌‌ویژه در زمینۀ زبان فارسی در آن وجود دارد. فارغ از مشکلات دیگر، نثر مترجم فاقد پویایی و روانی لازم برای انتقال مفاهیم ریکور است. وسواس در ترجمه و عدم انعطاف نحوی کتاب را به اثری دشوار تبدیل کرده است. افزون‌براین، در حاشیۀ این مقاله به اشتباهات بنیادین مترجم در ترجمۀ چند اصطلاح مهم مانند حکایت/ روایت، داستان/ تاریخ، و... ‌‌پرداخته می‌‌شود که پاره‌‌ای از مشکلات خواننده را در فهم متن سبب شده است. نگارنده بر آن است که توجه مترجم به میراث مترجمان پیشین می‌‌توانست بخشی از مشکلات ترجمه را بکاهد.

A Critical Review on the Book Time and Narrative and a Brief Overview of the Term “Récit/ Narrative”

Time and Narrative (3 vol. 19831985) of Paul Ricoeur (19132005) was translated from French to Persian by Mahshid Nonahali, which was published fully by Nashre Ney in 2018. Ricoeur’s book is a difficult work that requires relatively complete familiarity with various disciplines and branches of humanities such as philosophy, history, literature, narratology, etc. For this reason, less attention is paid here to the third volume and more to the second volume. Regarding translation, it can be claimed that fidelity and accuracy have been respected, but there are many problems, especially in the field of Persian language. Apart from other problems, the translator’s prose lacks sufficient dynamic and fluency to convey Ricoeur’s concepts; her obsession with translation and syntactic inflexibility has made the book a difficult work. In addition, the fundamental mistakes of the translator about some important terms such as anecdote/narrative, story/ history, etc. are discussed, which have caused some of the reader’s difficulties in understanding the text. The translator’s attention to the heritage of previous translators could reduce some of the translation problems.
