نقد کتاب روان‌شناسی زبان

در این مقاله کتاب روان‌شناسی زبان، نوشتۀ دیوید دبلیو. کرول با ترجمۀ حشمت‌اله صباغی، نقد شده است. کتاب به‌لحاظ صوری و محتوایی توصیف و ترجمۀ آن براساس عواملی مانند سبک نویسنده، گزینش معادل‌‌های واژگان عمومی و تخصصی، مسائل دستوری و نحوی، علائم سجاوندی و قواعد نگارشی، اشتباهات تایپی، و دقت و صحت در ترجمه و امانت‌داری بررسی شده است. اشکالات ترجمه عبارت است از عدم به‌کارگیری فاصله‌‌ها و نیم‌فاصله‌ها و علائم سجاوندی و نقطه‌گذاری نامناسب، جملات پیچیده در ترجمه علی‌رغم روان‌بودن و فهم‌پذیربودن متن انگلیسی کتاب، انتخاب معادل‌های پیچیده و کم‌بسامد، و به‌کارگرفتن واژ‌های عربی کم‌کاربرد به‌جای معادل‌های ساده و پربسامد. البته در مواردی معادل اصطلاحات تخصصی خوب انتخاب شده است. امانت‌داری در ترجمه تقریباً رعایت شده است. نتیجۀ بررسی نشان می‌دهد که کتاب به‌لحاظ کیفیت ترجمه ویژگی‌های چندانی ندارد و سطح آن متوسط است. اساسی‌ترین ایراد کتاب این است که خواننده باید به‌منظور درک بسیاری از جملات آن‌ها را چندبار بخواند. باوجوداین، باتوجه‌به کمبود منابع فارسی در زمینۀ روان‌شناسی زبان دانشجویان و متخصصان می‌توانند از این کتاب استفاده کنند، به‌شرط‌آن‌که ایرادهای ذکرشده در ویراست‌های بعدی اصلاح شود.

A Critique and Review on Psychology of Language

This article aims to investigate Psychology of Language, written by David W Carroll, translated by Heshmatollah Sabaghi.  The book is described considering the form and the content. Then, the translation of  the book is assessed  based on factors such as the style of writer, Persian equivalents of general and psycholinguistics terms, grammatical structures, punctuations, writing rules and conventions, accuracy and faithfulness. The main problems of the translation were related to the spaces and halfspaces between the word and within compound words, the correct punctuation and the complexity of Persian sentences in translation in spite of the simplicity of their original English sentences, complex and less frequent equivalents and Arabic words instead of simple, frequent and familiar Farsi equivalents. The faithfulness principle in the translation was acceptable. The result of this study showed that although the translation of the book is acceptable, it is not of high quality. The most critical problem of the translation is the complexity of  Persian sentences, so that the readers have to read the sentences several times to understand them. However, considering the fact that there are few Persian sourcebooks written on psycholinguistics, it can be used as a sourcebook provided that the problems are eliminated in the next editions.
