نقد عقل محض زبانی: خوانشی کانتی از کتاب تمهیداتی بر نظریه‌ زبان

تمهیدات یلمزلف شرحی است از نظریه‌ صوری و پیچیده‌ «تحلیل بنیادی» که ادعای آن تبیین شناخت آدمی به‌طور کل درقالب یک نظام محاسباتی جامع است. مترجم فارسی از عهده‌ بزرگ‌ترین چالش در ترجمه‌ این اثر، یعنی انتخاب برابرنهادهای فارسی برای انبوه اصطلاحات تخصصی آن، به‌خوبی برآمده است. مسئله‌ اصلی در نقد محتوایی اثر ادعای مترجم در پیش‌گفتار کتاب است که تلویحاً نظریه‌ «تحلیل بنیادی» را نظریه‌ای دارای قابلیت‌های بالقوه برای تبیین معرفت زبانی در زبان‌شناسی امروز توصیف می‌کند. در خوانشی از نظریه‌ یلمزلف در سایه‌ انگاره‌ شناختی کانت آشکار می‌شود که بنیادکردن «ضرورت پیشینی» بر «ساختار» نقصان اساسی مشترک در بنیان نظری رویکرد‌های صورت‌گرا، ازجمله نظریه‌ «تحلیل بنیادی» یلمزلف، است و همین امر باعث شده است که نظریه‌ یلمزلف نه‌تنها نتواند در تبیین «معرفتی خودبسنده» به‌توفیق برسد، بلکه به نقیض خود یعنی نظریه‌ای «متعالی» بدل شده، با خردگرایی پیوند خورده، و از چالش‌های پیش‌روی نظریه‌های عینیت‌گرا در امان نمانده است. از همین‌روست که «تحلیل بنیادی» یلمزلف کماکان در سایه‌ نظریه‌های مبتنی‌بر واقع‌گرایی تجربی در رویکردهای شناختی جدید به‌حاشیه رفته است‌ و در آینده‌ زبان‌شناسی نیز احتمالاً جایگاهی استوار نخواهد داشت.

A Critique of Pure Linguistic Reason: Kantian Remarks on Prolegomena to a Theory of Language

Prolegomena to a Theory of Language, the main work of Louis Hjelmslev, is an account of his “Glossematics” which is a complex formal theory about the nature of linguistic knowledge and the structure of human understanding in general. The current paper starts with a brief evaluation of a newly released Persian translation of this work; the problem triggering a hermeneutic interpretation of Hjelmslev’s theory in the light of Kant’s “pure reason” in the second part of the current paper is a claim about the potentials of “Glossematics” to be revived as an operational theory of linguistic epistemology in the current mainstream of Linguistics. I have shown that, like any other structural theory of human understanding, basing the “necessity” of the formal propositions of “Glossematics” on the notion of “structure” is the theory’s Achilles heel making this initially intended “selfcontained” theory change into a paradoxically “transcendental” epistemology. This transcendence in turn, puts Glossematics in the same boat with Nativist epistemological schools, which are all vulnerable to similar challenges. In conclusion, Hjelmslev’s theory of “Glossematics” is shown to be another “Objectivist” theory that is ruled out by the current findings in Cognitive Sciences.
