بررسی کتاب فلسفه، الهیات، و سیاست: خوانشی از رسالۀ الهیاتی سیاسی اسپینوزا نگاشتۀ پُل بَگلی

کتاب فلسفه، الهیات، و سیاست: خوانشی از رسالۀ الهیاتی سیاسی اسپینوزا می‌کوشد تا با بهره‌گیری از منابع وزین و با کوششی ریشه‌شناسانه (etymological)، مهم‌ترین مفاهیم مندرج در رسالۀ اسپینوزا را نقل، تحلیل، و نقد کند. از میان دو نقد درونی و بیرونی، نقد پل بَگلی سویۀ درونی دارد. درکنار منابع و شرح‌های فراوان درباب تفکر اسپینوزا، اثر بَگلی نیز توانسته است اثری مقبول درمیان شرح‌ها و خوانش‌های دنیای انگلیسی‌زبان باشد. رسالۀ اسپینوزا اثری درباب الهیات و سیاست است؛ اما به‌باور بَگلی، کتابی است الهیاتی و سیاسی که به‌قلم فیلسوفی نگاشته شده است که به فلسفه بیش از الهیات و سیاست متعهد و وفادار است. ازاین‌رو، رسالۀ اسپینوزا اثری فلسفی است که کارکردهای الهیات و سیاست را در زندگی همگان از منظری فلسفی بررسی می‌کند. این نوشتار کوشیده است تا با نگاهی توصیفی تحلیلی، ساختار صوری و محتوایی کتاب بَگلی را پیش‌رو نهد و سپس آن را از حیث توان و کاستی بررسی کند.

A Review of Philosophy, Theology, and Politics: A Reading of Benedict Spinoza’s Tractatus Theologico-Politicus

The book of Philosophy, Theology, and Politics: A Reading of Benedict Spinoza’s Tractatus TheologicoPoliticus is intended to describe, analyze, and criticize the most important concepts contained in the Spinoza’s book by utilizing its precious resources and with an etymological look. The inner critique in this book outweighs the outer critique. Besides, many references and explanations about Spinoza’s philosophy, Bagley’s work has also become an admirable book among the commentaries or readings of the Englishspeaking world. Spinoza’s treatise is a book about theology and politics. However, Bagley holds that it is a book about theology and politics that is written by a philosopher. More precisely, it is a treatise written by someone whose allegiance is to philosophy rather than either to theology or to politics. This paper makes an effort to introduce, with a descriptiveanalytical look, the formal and content structure of the Bagley’s book, and then to discuss its strengths and weaknesses.
