مقاله‌ حاضر نقد کتاب تصویر و کلمه: رویکردهایی به شمایل‌‌شناسی است. اهمیت معرفی و بررسی این اثر در مطالعه‌ آرای اروین پانوفسکی درباره‌ تصویر، شمایل‌‌نگاری، و شمایل‌‌شناسی، هم‌چنین‌‌ ارائه‌ رویکردهای مرتبط در این زمینه از دیدگاه نظریه‌‌پردازانی مانند آبی واربورگ، هانس بلتینگ، میکه ‌‌بال، و ژرژ دیدی اوبرمان است. این امر امکان تحلیل و مقایسه‌ رویکرد‌‌های مذکور را به‌موازات و در تقابل با یک‌دیگر فراهم می‌کند. این کتاب باهدف آشنایی ‌‌با شمایل‌شناسی به‌منزله‌ چهارچوب نظری و نوعی روش‌‌شناسی کاربرد دارد. هم‌چنان‌‌که برای آگاهی و آشنایی با آرای موافق و مخالف با آن مناسب خواهد بود.در این مقاله، به‌منظور توصیف محتوا و مفاهیم طرح‌شده در کتاب هر فصل جداگانه بررسی شده است. ضمن این‌که درخلال تشریح مطالب به وجوه شباهت و تمایز دیدگاه‌‌های این نظریه‌‌پردازان با یک‌دیگر اشاره شده و‌ به‌مقتضای مضامین مطرح از سوی نویسنده موارد مرتبط بیان شده است. درنهایت، رویکردهای فوق جمع‌‌بندی شده و نقاط قوت و برخی ابهامات در مفاهیم آمده است.

A Critique of the Book “Image and Word: Approaches to Iconology”

The present article is a critique of the book “Image and Word: Approaches to Iconology”. The importance of introducing and reviewing this work is studying Erwin Panovsky’s views on image, iconography, and iconology, as well as the presentation of relevant approaches in this field from the perspective of theorists such as Aby Warburg, Hans Belting, Mieke Bal, and Georges DidiHuberman. This makes it possible to analyze and compare the approaches in parallel and in opposition to each other. Therefore, the usage of this book is for those who want to become familiar with iconology as a theoretical framework and a kind of methodology. As for knowing and understanding the agreeing and disagreeing views, it will be suitable. In this article, in order to describe the content and concepts embodied in the book, it is separately addressed to each of the chapters; In addition, while describing the material, they refer to the similarities and differences between the views of these theorists, as well as to the subject matter under consideration by the author, mentioning the related items. Finally, the above approaches are summarized, and the strengths and some ambiguities in the concepts are mentioned.
