ارزش‌یابی کتاب راه‌نمای نقد ادبی و نظریۀ فرهنگی راتلج به ویراستاری سایمن مالپاس و پال ویک

انتخاب کتاب مناسب برای درس نقد و نظریه از چالش‌های استادان است و موفقیت کلاس و حس رضایت‌مندی دانشجویان را تحت‌تاثیر قرار می‌دهد. در ایران، در رشته‌های مختلف دانشگاهی این درس به دانشجویان ارائه می‌شود و بنابراین کتاب مناسب برای تدریس این درس از نیازهای بازار نشر دانشگاهی کشور است. در این بازار، کتاب‌های متعددی عرضه شده که اهم آن‌ها ترجمۀ متون انگلیسی‌زبان است. ازآن‌جایی‌که درس نقد و نظریه ازجمله دروس دشوار برای دانشجویان به‌حساب می‌‌آید، انتخاب کتاب مناسب می‌تواند از فشار درس بر دانشجو و استاد کم کند. در این مقاله، نویسنده کتاب راه‌نمای نقد ادبی و نظریۀ فرهنگی راتلج را با ویراستاری سایمن مالپاس و پال ویک چاپ سال 2013 م با چند نمونه کتاب نقد انگلیسیِ مورداستفاده در رشتۀ زبان و ادبیات انگلیسی مقایسه می‌کند تا نقاط ضعف و قوّت این کتاب آشکار شود و ازنظر ارزش آموزشی ارزیابی شود. هم‌چنین، پیش‌نهادهایی برای کاربردی‌کردن آن در کلاس درس ارائه می‌کند. درنهایت، نویسنده بر این اعتقاد است که راه‌نمای نقد ادبی و نظریۀ فرهنگی راتلج کتابی قابل‌اعتنا برای تدریس درس نقد و نظریه است و چنان‌چه ترجمۀ مناسبی از آن در دست باشد، می‌تواند پاسخ‌گوی نیاز دیگر رشته‌ها نیز باشد.

Evaluating the Rutledge’s Literary Criticism and Cultural Theory Handbook Edited by Simon Malpas and Paul Vick

Selecting the book tailored for criticism and theory lessons is a challenge for the professors, affecting class success and students’ sense of satisfaction. This course is offered to students in different academic disciplines in Iran, and therefore, a proper book to teach this course is needed in the academic publication market in Iran. In this market, there are numerous books, most of which are translations of Englishlanguage texts. Since the course Criticism and Theory are among the most difficult lessons for students, selecting the right book can reduce the burden on the students and professors. In the present article, the author compares the Rutledge’s Literary Criticism and Cultural Theory Handbook edited by Simon Malpas and Paul Vick with some examples of English criticism in English language and literature to illustrate the strengths and weaknesses of this book, and evaluate in terms of educational value. It also presents suggestions for making it applicable in the classroom. Eventually, the author believes that the Rutledge’s Literary Criticism and Cultural Theory Handbook is a considerable book for teaching the course Criticism and Theory, and a proper translation can meet the needs of other disciplines.
