آشفتگی در نظر، شتاب‌زدگی در عمل نقد کتاب سیاست و حکومت در خاورمیانه

رشد علاقه به بررسی تحولات و رویدادهای خاورمیانه ازیک‌سو و گسترش دوره‌های آموزشی و پژوهشی مطالعات این منطقه طی سال‌های اخیر، ازسوی‌دیگر، موجب شده است نیاز به آثار آموزشی و تحقیقی بیش‌از گذشته احساس شود؛ ازاین‌رو، انتشار کتاب سیاست و حکومت در خاورمیانه توسط ناشرانی دانشگاهی و معتبر جلب‌توجه می‌کند؛ کتابی که قرار است اسلوب آموزشی داشته باشد و خوانندگان، به‌ویژه دانشجویان رشتۀ علوم سیاسی در مقطع کارشناسی، را با اطلاعات و تحلیل‌‌های پایه در این زمینه آشنا کند. بااین‌حال، بررسی شکلی و محتوایی کتاب نشان می‌‌دهد که، به‌‌رغم دقت ناشران در عرضۀ اثری جامع و علمی، این نوشته دچار کاستی‌‌ها و گاه بی‌‌دقتی‌‌های متعددی است؛ به‌گونه‌ای‌که ظرفیت و ارزش آن را برای استناد و تدریس در دانشگاه با تردید روبه‌رو می‌کند. براین‌اساس، مطالبی دربارۀ ویژگی‌‌های شکلی و نکات قوت و ضعف محتوای اثر ذکر شده و درپایان نیز توصیه‌‌ها و پیش‌نهادهایی برای ویرایش جدی آن آمده است. به‌نظر می‌رسد مهم‌ترین مشکل کتاب آن است که هم از راهنمایی متخصصان حوزۀ مطالعات خاورمیانه و هم از مشورت صاحب‌‌نظران حوزۀ تعلیم و تربیت، درجهت نگارش اثری آموزشی بی‌بهره بوده است.

Chaos in Ideas, Hastiness in Action: A Critical Review of Politics and Government in the Middle East

Increasing the enthusiastic attempts to trace the Middle East events and evolutions, on the one hand, and establishing the Middle East Studies courses (both in research and teaching) on the other hand, caused the need for research and teaching sources in this field. The printing of Politics and Government in THE Middle East by a reputable university press is very important; a book which is going to have educational methods and offer the data and analyses on political issues to the students of political sciences, especially the bachelors. However, reviewing the form and the content of this book shows that despite the publishers’ finesse to offer a scientific and comprehensive work, it has some weaknesses and inaccuracies, so that introducing it as an academic source may be hesitated. Accordingly, this paper offers some positive and negative aspects of the book, and at the end, it proposes a recommendation to the authors and publishers to issue a new edition of the book. The major drawback of the book seems to be its lack of the proficiency guidelines and ideas of the scholars of the Middle East Studies as well as and guidelines and ideas of education.
