مطالعه تطبیقی دیدگاه‌های یوزف استرژیگوفسکی و آرتور آپهام پوپ درباره تاریخ‌نگاری هنر شرق

یکی از مسائل مهم و چالش‌برانگیز در پژوهش‌های مستشرقان درباره تاریخ‌نگاری هنر، بررسی ماهیت و جایگاه هنر شرق در قیاس با هنر غرب و نحوه تعامل آن‌ها با یکدیگر طی دوره‌های مختلف تاریخی است. استرژیگوفسکی و پوپ از برجسته‌ترین پژوهشگران غربی بودند که در اوایل قرن بیستم به بررسی سیر تحول هنر شرق با محوریت هنر ایرانی و تعاملات آن با هنر غرب پرداختند. با توجه به اینکه دیدگاه‌های این دو پژوهشگر بر پژوهشگران غربی و ایرانی در حوزه تاریخ هنر تاثیرات بسزایی داشته است، شناخت و تحلیل این دیدگاه‌ها برای بررسی تحولات تاریخ‌نگاری هنر ایرانی ضرورت دارد. ازاین‌رو در مقاله حاضر دیدگاه‌های این دو مستشرق درخصوص تاریخ‌نگاری هنر شرق با یکدیگر سنجیده و مقایسه می‌شود. پژوهش حاضر از نوع بنیادی است که با بهره‌گیری از روش توصیفی تحلیلی و تطبیقی انجام شده است. شیوه گردآوری اطلاعات در این پژوهش، کتابخانه‌ای و با استفاده از منابع مکتوب است. یافته‌های این پژوهش نشان می‌دهد که خاستگاه، روش و رهیافت و نیز منابع مورداستفاده این دو پژوهشگر یکسان نبوده است. نتایج این پژوهش حاکی از آن است که استرژیگوفسکی و پوپ به ماهیت مستقل و اثرگذار هنر ایران در قیاس با هنر غرب از دو منظر متفاوت توجه نشان داده‌اند. ویژگی خاص دیدگاه استرژیگوفسکی تاکید بر تاثیرگذاری جریان تاریخی هنر شرق بر هنرهای باستانی متاخر اروپای غربی و هنرهای قرون‌وسطایی است. درمقابل، پوپ اهمیت بیشتری به بررسی هنر شرقی با محوریت هنر ایران و تاکید بر جنبه‌های زیبایی‌شناختی فرمالیستی می‌دهد. اگرچه پوپ صراحتاً به تاثیرات استرژیگوفسکی بر نظراتش اشاره‌ای نکرده، اما به نظر می‌رسد اندیشه‌های نژادی استرژیگوفسکی و نیز دیدگاه او درباره نقش مهاجرت در تحولات تاریخ هنر، مبنای اصلی دیدگاه پوپ درخصوص برتری هنر ایرانی آریایی بوده است.

a comparative analysis of the views of josef strzygowski and arthur upham pope on the historiography of eastern art

one of the most important and challenging issues in orientalists' research about art historiography is to investigate the nature and place of eastern art in comparison with western art, and how they interact with each other during different historical periods. strzygowski and pope were among the most prominent western researchers who, in the early 20th century, investigated the evolution of eastern art, focusing on iranian art and its interactions with western art. considering that the views of these two researchers have had significant effects on western and iranian researchers in the field of art history, the recognition and analysis of these views is necessary to examine the evolution of iranian art historiography. therefore, in the present article, the views of these two orientalists regarding the historiography of eastern art are measured and compared with each other. this research is fundamental and theoretical, and a descriptive-analytical method has been used. data collection in the current research was based on library research. the findings of this research show that the origin, method and approach as well as the sources used by these two researchers were not the same. the results of this research indicate that strzygowski and pope have paid attention to the independent and influential nature of iranian art in comparison with western art from two different perspectives. the special feature of strzygowski's point of view is its emphasis on the influence of the historical flow of eastern art on the late ancient arts of western europe and medieval arts. on the other hand, pope gives more importance to the examination of oriental art, focusing on iranian art and emphasizing the formalist aesthetic aspects. although pope did not explicitly mention strzygowski's influence on his opinions, it seems that strzygowski's racial thoughts as well as his view on the role of immigration in the evolution of art history were the main basis of pope's view on the superiority of iranian-aryan art.
