A simple method to identify and determine the total cardiac glycosides in nerium oleander leaves andflowers from babolsar has been reported. the chloroform extract was incubated with alkaline 3,5dinitrobenzoicacid solution as colour forming agent and the absorbance of resulting violet solution wasdetermined by spectrophotometer. the determination of cardiac glycosides was achieved by using standardsolution ofdigitoxin
