Chemical Synthesis, Spectral Characterization and Thermal Degradation of Poly (aniline-co-m-chloroaniline)

Copolymers of aniline with m-chloroaniline were synthesized for differentmolar ratios of the respective monomers in acid medium. the structural properties ofthese co-polymers were characterized by using ft-ir and uv-vis spectroscopicmethods. the electrical conductivity was measured by two probe method. it was foundthat the conductivity of these co-polymers decreases with increase of the chloroanilinecontent in the copolymerization reaction. temperature dependence of electricalconductivity data was discussed in terms of arrhenius and variable range hoppingmodel to elucidate the conduction mechanism. the thermal degradation of thesepolymers was analyzed using thermo gravimetric analysis.
