تلاقی نمادها و مفاهیم دریدایی در رمان هرگز رهایم مکن

هرگز رهایم مکن (2005) رمانی از نویسنده انگلیسی‑ژاپنی، کازو ایشی گورو، است. رمان‌های ایشی گورو از نظر ساختار، طرح و مضامین با یکدیگر متفاوت‌اند. هرگز رهایم مکن یکی از رمان‌های معروف علمی تخیلی اوست که محور اصلی آن، نقد هنجارهای اجتماعی جامعه است. این رمان که از نگاه یکی از شخصیت‌ها به نام «کتی» روایت می‌شود، به زندگی دانش‌آموزان مدرسۀ شبانه‌روزی «هیلشم»می‌پردازد. کتی دختری ستم‌دیده است که سال‌های زیادی را زیر چتر قوانین ناعادلانۀ مدرسه سپری کرده است. پژوهش حاضر در پی بررسی این رمان از دیدگاه ساختارشکنی است. مسالۀ قابل ‌توجّه در این مقاله، اشاره به مفاهیم ساختارشکنانه بر اساس نظریّۀ دریدا، فیلسوف فرانسوی و بنیان‌گذار استراتژی ساختارشکنی، است. اگرچه رمان‌های ایشی گورو از جنبه‌های بی‌شماری موردمطالعه قرارگرفته‌اند، اما موارد بسیار کمی وجود دارد که در آنها به بررسی مفاهیم و مضامین پساساختارگرای موجود در آثار ایشی گورو پرداخته ‌شده است. ازاین‌رو، در تحقیق حاضر سعی شده سه مفهوم ساختارشکنی یعنی «رابطۀ دلبخواهی بین دال و مدلول»، «تقابل‌های دوگانه» و «مرکز زدایی» در رمان هرگز رهایم مکن بررسی شود. مقاله پیش رو با به کار گیری نظریّۀ ساختارشکنی دریدا به این موضوع می‌پردازد که چگونه با استفاده از مفاهیم یادشده، این رمان نمادهای پیچیده‌ای را به مخاطب معرّفی می‌کند که خودِ آنهاارائه‌دهندۀ لایه‌های مختلف معنایی و گاه ضدونقیضی هستند. درنهایت، این مطالعه نشان داد که معانی متفاوت و متضاد این نمادها از طریق رابطۀ دلبخواهی بین دال (نشانگر) و مدلول، تقابل‌های دوگانه و مرکز زدایی ساخته می‌شوند.

The Convergence of Symbol and Derridean Concepts in Never Let Me Go

Never Let Me Go (2005) is a novel by Kazuo Ishiguro, the British Japanese writer. His novels vary in terms of structure, plot, and themes. Never Let Me Go is one of his famous science fiction novels, which criticizes the social norms of the society. The novel focuses on the lives of students at Haillsham Boarding School, from the viewpoint of Cathy, an oppressed person, who has been dominated by injustice laws for many years. The present research seeks to explore the novel from the point of view of deconstruction. The study draws on the concepts of deconstruction proposed by Jacque Derrida, the French philosopher and the founding father of deconstruction strategy. Although Ishiguro’s novels have been vastly studied from numerous perspectives, there have been only a few attempts to investigate the poststructuralism concepts and themes in the novel. Accordingly, this study attempts to examine three concepts of deconstruction, i.e., the arbitrary relation between the signifier and the signified, binary opposition, and decenterism in Never Let Me Go. It employs Derrida’s deconstruction theory to examine if and how by using the abovementioned concepts, Never Let Me Go shows the readers the complexity of symbols presenting different layers of meanings which are at times opposite. The study found that different and opposite meanings of the symbols are constructed through the arbitrary relation between the signifier and the signified, binary opposition, and decenterism.
