مفهوم علوم انسانی در اندیشه متاخر ویلهلم دیلتای

دیلتای در بخش اول اندیشه اش برای استقلال بخشیدن به علوم انسانی موفقیت چندانی به دست نیاود بدین جهت برای یافتن راه حل مناسب اندیشه اولیه خود را مورد تامل و بازبینی قرار داد. دستاورد این تلاش مجدد این بود که تنها با روش درون بینی نمی توان علوم انسانی تاسیس کرد زیرا که طریق درون نگری اساساً واسطه تفهیم و تفاهم قرار نمی گیرد. لذا دیلتای در بخش دوم اندیشه اش معتقد می شود که باید تاریخ را آیینه قرار داد و از طریق تامل در آن به شناخت خود رسید. مفاهیم کلیدی که دیلتای برای رسیدن به مقصود خود به کار می برد، عبارتند از: تجربه زیسته، عینیت یافتگی روح و فهم. فهم از نظر دیلتای بازسازی و باز تولید محتوای فکری نهفته در یک جلوه فیزیکی است. در این بازسازی باید فضای فکری و زمینه های تاریخی – فرهنگی و سایر اموری که با مولف نسبت دارد مورد توجه قرار گیرد. دیلتای مقولاتی را در تقابل با مقولات صوری تحت عنوان مقولات حیات معرفی می کند که شامل: زمان، معنا، ارزش، غایت و نیروی مولد است.از میان این مقولات زمان جایگاه ویژه ای در نظام فکری دیلتای دارد. زیرا که مقولات دیگر از تامل در این مقوله به دست می آید.
