برز فی ثمانینیات القرن الماضی حقل معرفی جدید یهتم بالبحث الثقافی والسیاسی والتاریخی معاً، ضمن توجه جدید یوکد على تداخل میادین المعرفة بازالة الحواجز الافتراضیة بینها، اصطلح علیه بالدراسات مابعد الکولونیالیة (او مابعد الاستعماریة). ان الشرق والغرب یعدان من المباحث الاساسیة للخطاب ما بعد الکولونیالی؛ فالتقابل بین الشرق والغرب وان کان له اساس جغرافی الا انه تقابل حضاری.تعد روایة &سباق المسافات الطویلة& هی السادسة بین روایات عبدالرحمن منیف تتناول القضایا الانسانیة والمجتمع العربی، ومعالم مابعدالکولونیالیة، حیث انّ الراوی یشیر الی سیطرة الغرب علی الدول الشرقیة وحصوله علی المصادر النفطیة فی هذه البلاد، ویصور  نظرة الغرب الی الشرق. وهذا البحث ضمن المنهج الوصفی – التحلیلی ومن خلال قراءة مابعد کولونیالیة للروایة المذکورة، یهدف الی الکشف عن ایدئولوجیات المستعمِر الوافد الی الشرق وبیان نظرته الیه ووصفه له وعدم اعطائه صوتاً. ومن نتائج البحث یمکن الاشارة الی استمرار عملیة التشویه السلبی للآخر الشرقی، ومحاولة الانا الغربیة الجادة لنهب ثروات اهل الشرق واحکام سیطرته علیهم فی معزل عن التفاعل الایجابی البنّاء والمثاقفة الطبیعیة القائمة علی الاحترام والانصاف.

Undoubtedly, East and West are the origins of researches regarding postcolonial discourse, so the contrast between East and West, although not geographically, is a civilization.The novel Sabak AlMasafat AlTawilah (Endless Marathon) is the sixth novel of the novels of Abdul Rahman Manif, which scans human and Arabic society’s issues and postcolonialist works, where the author addresses the West’s domination of the eastern countries and the search for oil resources, and he also shows the contrast between two West and East’s outlooks. This research, in addition to the descriptiveanalytical method and through postcolonial studying of the novel, tries to illustrate the ideology of the colonial symbol to the East and his vision of describing them and also not to giving voice to the East. One of the results of the study is the continuation of the dirty view of the &other”, of the East, and the serious Western &I& effort to plunder the wealth of the East and to put its influence on them, apart from positive cooperation and natural culturizing based on respect for humanity.
