چکیده    When a fault crashes, seismic body waves travel away from the source tothe ground surface. seismic wave characteristics change due to source, path and sitee ects. site e ects consist of surface and subsurface irregularities, such as cavities that cana ect the properties of seismic waves. therefore, in this study, the e ects of undergroundcavities on surface ground motion amplication are investigated for circular and ellipticalshapes. underground cavities are subjected to the vertically propagating sv and p in-planewaves. the e ects of dimensionless frequency, depth of cavity, geometry of cavity and alsopresence of the second cavity are studied in this research. results show that increasing ofdimensionless frequency causes increase in ground motion amplication for both cases ofincident sv and p waves. it is also concluded that depth and geometry of cavity can causevery important e ects on the ground seismic motion. presence of second cavity can alsoaggravate the ground surface seismic motion in addition to the rst cavity.
