چکیده
|
To identify structural damage, many dierent methods have already beendeveloped. evaluating the performance of these methods is not a convenient task becausethey have been applied to dierent structures or constructed for specic purposes. most ofthese methods use model-updating techniques, as a tool, to detect and assess damage. onthe other hand some methods, including the energy index method, use the concept of strainenergy to detect damage. this paper tries to compare the performance of the energy indexmethod with the performance of a model-updating-based model. in order to facilitate thecomparison of various damage identication methods, a structure proposed by the iascascetask group on structural health monitoring is considered as a benchmark. finally,the eects of measurement noise and the incompleteness of data on the performance of theproposed algorithm are investigated.
