   Stability analysis of boron nitride nanotubes via a combined continuum-atomistic model

چکیده    A hybrid continuum-atomistic approach is developed to describe the bucklingbehavior of axially loaded chiral boron nitride nanotubes (bnnts) with di erent boundaryconditions. the set of the stability equations is established based on the nonlocal elasticityof eringen and donnell shell theory. the molecular mechanics are implemented inconjunction with the density functional theory (dft) to obtain the e ective in-plane andbending sti nesses and poisson's ratio of bnnts. the problem is analytically solved bythe use of a direct variational method. the inuences of geometrical parameters, nonlocalparameters and boundary conditions on the critical buckling loads are thoroughly explored.
