محمول وجود در منطق فرگه‌ای

یکی از مقدماتی ترین مطالبی که در هر کتاب آموزشیِ منطقِ فرگه ای در بحث منطق محمولات به چشم می خورد این است که «وجودداشتن» نمی تواند در هیچ گزارهای محمول واقع شود؛ بلکه جایگاه «وجود» سور گزاره جزئی است. هدف من در این مقاله این است که نشان دهم بنیانگذاران منطق فرگه ای چه دیدی به ساختار گزاره داشتند و چرا وجود در این ساختار نمی تواند محمول واقع شود. سپس تبیین و راه حل این منطق دانان از گزاره های وجودی را بیان می کنم؛ و درپی آن، اشکالات و نارسایی هایتحلیل ارائه شده را بررسی خواهم کرد. بسیاری از فیلسوفان تحلیلی، چون مور، نیل، ویزدم، ایِر، و دیگران، بیشتر در بحث های مربوط به برهان وجودی برای اثبات خدا، به محمول نبودن وجود اشاره کرده اند. اما من در این مقاله تنها به فرگه، راسل، و کواین خواهم پرداخت. آرای فیلسوفان نامبرده با اندکی مسامحه ذیل رای این سه می گنجد.

The Existence Predicate in Fregean Logic

One of the most basic doctrines in the predicate logic is that existence can never be a predicate; rather, it is the particular quantifier. Here I''ll try to explore the views of the founders of Fregean logic on the structure of the proposition, and why it does not take existence as a predicate. Then I''ll state their explanation and solution for existential propositions. Finally, I''ll investigate the shortcomings of their analysis. Many analytical philosophers, including Moore, Kneale, Wisdon, Ayer, etc, who have denied ''existence'' as a predicate, have done so as part of their refutation of the ontological argument for the God''s existence. However, here I''ll deal only with Frege, Russell, and Quine. The other philosophers'' stance can more or less be found in one of these three.
