the possibility or impossibility of revelation in deistic theology

Authors rezvani moghadam elham
Abstract    this study, employing an analytical-critical method with an emphasis on both internal and external approaches, examines the possibility of revelation in deistic theology. deism, with its exclusive reliance on natural reason and absolute denial of divine intervention, categorically rejects the principle of revelation. the findings indicate that this stance relies on three erroneous presuppositions: the limitation of god's communicative power, the inherent conflict between reason and revelation, and the reduction of revelation to a violation of natural laws. these invalid foundations lead to four internal aporias: theological (a passive god), epistemological (the inability of reason to resolve fundamental disagreements), ethical (value relativism), and anthropological (the failure to explain the origin of human rationality). in contrast, the model of wise communication in revelatory theism a fluid and coherent relationship between god and the world. it is concluded that the absolute negation of revelation in deism is unjustified, and the acceptance of public revelation (encompassing innate human nature [fiṭrah], universal moral intuitions, and spiritual experiences) could lead to the internal evolution of this theology. the novelty of the research lies in its systematic uncovering of deism's internal contradictions and its proposal of an alternative model for reconciling reason and revelation.
