Abstract
this article examines contemporary jurisprudential approaches to cognitive warfare. utilizing a descriptive-analytical methodology, the study finds that within the dar al-da‘wah approach, as framed by yusuf al-qaradawi, islam prioritizes rationality and evidence over purely jurisprudential interpretation. from this perspective, success in cognitive warfare requires adaptability, a departure from rigid legalism, and a focus on practical realities rather than abstract truths. in contrast, the dar al-tabligh approach, associated with tariq ramadan, takes a more critical stance toward jurisprudence, viewing it as a significant impediment to the global dissemination of islam. in this view, islam’s success in confronting western civilization demands adherence to sharia stripped of traditional jurisprudential frameworks, as fiqh is perceived to be the main battleground between islamic and western worldviews. however, in the dar al-fitrah approach—identified in this article with ayatollah misbah yazdi—jurisprudence and its associated reasoning are seen as essential defenses against western ideological incursions. this approach maintains that, through jurisprudential arguments, the fundamental weaknesses of the other two approaches—particularly their tendency toward compromise and hypocrisy—can be exposed. accordingly, while dar al-da‘wah and dar al-tabligh are influenced by western imperatives, dar al-fitrah emphasizes sincerity in religious propagation and remains anchored in islamic legal tradition.
