تحقیقات پرسش‌مدار: مطالعات میان‌رشته‌ای معماری و علوم انسانی

فرایند تحقیق در بخش قابل ‌توجهی از موضوعات معماری با رویکرد‌ها و روش‌های تحقیق علوم اجتماعی و انسانی درآمیخته است؛ اما چگونگی پیشبرد فرایند تحقیق با کاربرد این رویکردها و روش‌ها در معماری، بررسی شایانی نشده است. هدف این مقاله تعریف تحقیق پرسش‌مدار در معماری و معرفی گستره و انواع و فرایندهای آن است. موضوع تحقیقات پرسش‌مدار در حوزۀ میان‌رشته‌ای معماری و علوم انسانی و اجتماعی قرار می‌گیرد و با راهبردهای تحقیق متداول در این حوزه‌ها انجام می‌شود. این تحقیق در چارچوب راهبرد، طبقه‌بندی و با بررسی و تحلیل مصادیق رساله‌های دکتری معماری منتخب دانشگاه‌های برتر جهان انجام شده است. نتایج مقاله نشان می‌دهد تحقیقات پرسش‌مدار به‌جای فرضیه‌پردازی با پرسش دنبال می‌شود؛ پرسش از پدیده‌ای معاصر، یا شرایطی در گذشته یا حوزۀ ناشناخته یا سامان‌نیافته‌ای از دانش که برای محقق مبهم است. تحقیق پرسش‌مدار از حیث نسبت محقق با موضوع پرسش سه نوع است: موضوعی در زمان گذشته نسبت به محقق که فهم آن با وارسی داده‌های تاریخی میسر است؛ یا موضوعی هم‌زمان با محقق که با تحلیل داده‌های حاصل از بستر طبیعی، وقوع آن پیش می‌رود؛ یا موضوعی معمارانه که فهم آن با هر دو وضعیت تاریخی و معاصر پدیده سروکار دارد. نتیجۀ تحقیق پرسش‌مدار اغلب در قالب توصیف غنی و مفصل یا روایتی منسجم عرضه می‌شود.

question-based research: interdisciplinary studies inarchitecture and the humanities

although the research process in many architectural topics involves approaches and methods used in the social sciences and humanities, advancing through the architectural research process by the application of these approaches and methods has been poorly studied. this article aims to define question-based research in architecture and introduce its scope, types, and processes. it is an interdisciplinary research in which the research strategies of the social sciences and humanities are applied. this article employs the classification strategy to study and analyze a selection of doctoral dissertations in architecture from worldwide top-ranked universities. the results demonstrate that question-based research advances by developing a question rather than hypothesizing, i.e., asking about a contemporary or historical phenomenon or a relatively unknown or disorganized body of knowledge that is obscure to the researcher. there are three types of question-based research topics in terms of the researcher’s relation to the questioned phenomenon: a topic relating to the past requiring examining historical data; a contemporary problem requiring data analysis from field research; or an architectural topic requiring investigation of both historical and modern conditions. the results of question-based research are mostly in the form of an extensive description or a coherent narrative.
