بررسی شایستگی میان فرهنگی و جنسیت در کتاب‌های درسی آموزش زبان انگلیسی ایران

در این مقاله، ما به بررسی شایستگی میان فرهنگی( intercultural competence ) و نمود جنسیتی ( gender representation ) در جدیدترین کتابهای درسی زبان انگلیسی خواهیم پرداخت که به صورت بومی در فاصله زمانی شهریور و مهر 1400 (سپتامبر 2021 ) منتشر شده و در مدارس ابتدایی و متوسطه ایران تدریس می شوند. تحلیل محتوا روشی است که ما در این مطالعه برای بررسی میزان نمود جنسیت و همچنین، میزان انعکاس برابری زنان و مردان در کتاب های درسی مذکور مورد استفاده قرار داده ایم. علاوه بر تحلیل کمی، تحلیل کیفی نیز تا حدودی انجام شده است. در نخستین مرحله از پژوهش، تصاویر، اسامی، نقشها و موضوعاتی با محوریتزنان و مردان در زمان خواندن متنها و گفتگوها مورد تجزیه و تحلیل قرار گرفت. علاوه براین، از آنجایی که در مطالعه حاضر، شایستگی میان فرهنگی در کتاب های درسی زبان انگلیسی موضوع مورد بررسی ما است، به منظور به تصویرکشیدن کلیه نمونه هایی که در آن یازده جنبه شایستگی میان فرهنگی نشان داده شده است، کتاب های درسی با دقت موشکافی شدند. یافته های ما حاکی از آن هستند که در کتاب های درسی تازه تالیف شده، نبود تعادل جنسیتی تا حد زیادی مشهود بوده و حضور مردان در نام ها، شخصیت ها، تصاویر و متون مختلف به مراتب پررنگتر است. شایستگی میان فرهنگی نیز یکی از جنبه های مهم تفاوت بین جنسیت های مختلف بوده است، به طوری که در این کتاب ها بهلحاظ عاطفه، همدلی و دیدگاه گیری emotion, empathy, and perspective taking و روابط بین فرهنگیintercultural relations ، شایستگی میان فرهنگی بالاتری برای مردان درنظرگرفته شده است. زنان از نظر دانش تنوع knowledge of diversity جایگاه بالاتری داشتند، اما در روابط بین فرهنگی ir تفاوت زیادی وجود نداشت. از آنجایی که در کتاب های مذکور، تعداد نویسندگان مرد از همتایان زن خود بیشتر است، احتمالاً افزودن چند تن دیگر از بانوان به هیئت نویسندگان، راهکار مفیدی باشد. هرچند، نویسندگان عموماً تشویق میشوند کتاب هایی تالیف کنند که بتوانند با پیروی از دستورالعمل های ارائه شده توسط مقامات ایران، برابری جنسیتی را تاحد امکان ترویج نمایند.

analysis of intercultural competence and gender representation in iranian efl coursebooks

this article examines intercultural competence and gender representation in the latest locally developed english language coursebooks which are taught in iranian primary and secondary schools. the study uses content analysis to investigate the extent to which gender is portrayed in coursebooks and also how much these coursebooks reflect equality between men and women. in addition to quantitative analysis, qualitative analysis was conducted to a certain extent. for the first phase of the research, images, names, roles, and topics oriented towards women and men in the reading passages and conversations were analysed. moreover, since the present study examined intercultural competence within the english language coursebooks, the coursebooks were scrutinized in order to capture every instance in which the eleven aspects of intercultural competence are shown or indicated. the findings revealed that in the newly developed coursebooks, gender imbalances could be observed to a great extent, with males being the dominant gender in names, characters, images, and texts. intercultural competence was also found to be a major difference between genders, where the books showed higher intercultural competence for men in emotion, empathy, and perspective-taking (eep) and intercultural relations (ir) aspects. women were shown to be higher in knowledge of diversity (kd), but there was no difference in intercultural relations (ir). since in these coursebooks, male authors outnumber their female counterparts, it might be beneficial to add more females to an authority’s board of authors. authors are also encouraged to develop coursebooks that promote gender equality by following guidelines provided by iran’s authorities.
