تاثیر آگاهی استعاری بر توانش استعاری و مهارت خواندن متون مطبوعاتی دانشجویان زبان انگلیسی

تحقیق حاضر با هدف بررسی تاثیرآگاهی بخشی درباره وجود استعاره‌های مفهومی (زیرساخت) که منتج به استعاره‌های زبانی (روساخت) می‌شوند بر روی مهارت خواندن مطبوعات و توانش استعاری دانشجویان زبان انگلیسی در ایران در طول یک نیمسال تحصیلی طراحی گردید. بدین‌منظور، در یک طرح شبه‌آزمایشی دو کلاس خواندن مطبوعاتی به‌صورت نمونه‌گیری آسان (گروه آزمایش با 27 دانشجو و گروه گواه با 24 دانشجو) در نظر گرفته شدند. در ابتدای ترم دو آزمون پیشرفت خواندن مطبوعات و استعاره به‌عنوان پیش‌آزمون برگزار شدند. در طول ترم گروه آزمایش تمرین‌های متنوعی جهت افزایش آگاهی از وجود استعاره‌های مفهومی و متعاقباً شناسایی استعاره‌های زبانی به‌کارگرفته‌شده در متون مطبوعاتی را انجام دادند. این تمرین‌ها به‌عنوان فعالیت‌های تکمیلی به‌مدت حدوداً 15 دقیقه هرجلسه در کنار فعالیت‌های معمول در این کلاس‌ها انجام می‌شدند. در مقابل، گروه گواه علاوه بر فعالیت‌های معمول چند متن مطبوعاتی اضافه جهت مطالعه در خانه دریافت می‌کردند. در پایان ترم هر دو آزمون به‌عنوان پس‌آزمون اجرا شدند. تجزیه و تحلیل آماری داده‌ها از طریق آزمون t مستقل تفاوت معناداری بین عملکرد دانشجویان دو گروه در هر دو آزمون را نشان دادند. همچنین نتایج مصاحبه انجام‌شده با گروه آزمایش حاکی از نگرش مثبت آزمودنی‌ها نسبت به این نوع آگاهی بخشی می‌باشد. یافته‌های این تحقیق بر شیوه تدریس و در تهیه و تدوین مطالب درسی برای زبان‌آموزان قابل اعتنا می‌باشد.

The effect of conceptual metaphor awareness on English students’ press reading skill and metaphoric competence

Various research studies have been designed to examine the potential effects of conceptual metaphor awarenessraising activities on the retention, remembrance and production of new vocabulary. While yielding rich harvests, these studies were limited in scope. Therefore, this current mixedmethod design study was carried out to investigate the longterm effects of metaphoric concepts awarenessraising activities on EFL learners’ press reading skill and metaphoric competence. Two intact press reading classes were randomly assigned to either experimental (27 students) or control group (24 students) and both were given a metaphoric language test and a teachermade achievement test to ensure their equality at the outset. During the 15weeklong course, experimental group received conceptual metaphor awarenessraising activities besides the routine materials and practices, whereas control group was given some extra reading comprehension materials. At the end of the research treatment, the two groups were tested again on the same tests. Quantitative data analyses through running two independent samples ttests revealed statistically significant differences in two groups’ performance on the posttests. Also, the interview results showed a positive change in the attitude of the participants with regard to such activities. The results which are discussed within cognitive linguistics have implications for classroom teaching practices and material development.
